VIGNA VECCHIA
2hectares of Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Ciliegiolo, Trebbiano and Malvasia. Pain and delight! Yes, because with its grapes we produce 4 of our most important wines, each of which has different maturation periods and zonings. The soil varies from calcareous clay in the upper part to a medium texture in the lower part. “Vigna Vecchia” is usually where each grape harvest begins and ends.
VIGNA DEL LAGO
Just below the old vineyard, this is the 1hectare white grape vineyard, mainly Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc. Loamy clay soil. The vineyard includes about 2000 plants of mostly aromatic varieties from which we are starting a new late harvest project.
CAMPONE
At the foot of one of the most emblematic places for our family, there is a hectare planted with Sangiovese and Malvasia Nera. It is the driest and steepest field, rich in limestone, clay and stones, lots of stones.
VIGNA COLLEZIONE
surrounded by woods and pastures, its soil is medium-textured clay, with a lot of marl near the woods. This is the home of ancient native vines that we will perhaps tell you about in secret while drinking a glass of wine.
CANEPAIO
This is our youngest vineyard, where hemp was grown in the past. A little less than one hectare is used to grow selections of Pinot Noir from Burgundy, with very deep calcareous clay soil.
VIGNA MAHSARÀ
Cultivated with Pinot Noir, our small vineyard is located just above the winery. It faces east and its soil is very calcareous, but also tends towards sandy. This vineyard has given us excellent results in sparkling wine making, which is why it is currently the base of our classic ancestral method... Mahsarà.
NON ONLY VINEYARD
Our latest adventure was the planting of a hectare of olive grove, and then who knows... there is still plenty of white space on the canvas.
That's why we never get bored at Ornina!
